Capacity building trainings for national counter-trafficking NGO network

31 July – 2 August 2006 IOM Mission in Ukraine, in the framework of the Danish Programme Against Human Trafficking in Eastern and South Eastern Europe conducted a three-day capacity-building event in Kyiv, with the participation of representatives of 38 NGOs from 22 out of 24 oblasts of Ukraine and Autonomous Republic of Crimea that carry out anti-trafficking activities. The event consisted of two seminars:

one-day seminar devoted to project design, monitoring and evaluation, which covered the following topics:
- logic of project design process;
- goals and principles of monitoring and evaluation activities; 
- instruments of M&E while NGO activities;
- management of the NGO recordkeeping-system.

and 

two-day seminar addressing issues of an NGO co-operation with mass media while implementation of counter-trafficking projects, in particular:
- methods of attracting attention of local and national media to  NGO activities and human trafficking problem;
- instruments for intensification of NGO activities media coverage: composition of press-announce and press-release; compilation of press-package; participation is press-conference, press-briefing, TV show etc.
- specifics of human trafficking phenomenon presentation.
 In other words they got a feel of mass media interaction into counter-trafficking work, in particular prevention campaign and awareness raising.

All the theoretical information provided was accompanied by practical exercises, thus participants had an opportunity to practically explore the knowledge gained at the workshops.

Ninety seven percents of the workshops participants indicated in the evaluation forms completed that they have acquired new useful skills for their everyday professional activities.
